Day 2 from south of Morgan to unicorn lake

What a day! Ideal riding roads. They are small, one lane roads, but they accommodate two-way traffic. That means that the drivers are constantly needing to be alert for cars coming from the other direction,at which point they need to pull over. That works well for me because they’re alert to my presence also.
I rode along the fjordsmost of the day. It was stunning. Sort of like Maine but bigger sort of like Alaska, but not really. I guess it’s just like Norway.
I did my first ferry ride, which are free for cyclist. A great chance to charge my phone, if only for 15 minutes. And my first three tunnels. But just short ones.
The climbs are really long. For example, one was a mile and I did walk most of it. Most of them I could ride, but I really had to dig deep.
But the scenery is just stunning. Most of the places I’ve toured have been through farmland. In France, we were in vineyards. From Prague to Vienna, we were in grape seed fields or logging areas. But this is just rugged, steep, terrain that I don’t think could be farmed for anything, so it’s just wild.
There are small towns about every 15-20 miles where I can stop and buy my chocolate milk, which is what is fueling me.
Oh also for Susan Osherow and others who are wondering what my Plan B is , there is a bus that runs along this route. So if I ever needed a lift, I could get one. The shelters make a great place to sit in the shade because there’s a bench.
I ended the day by coming down a very long down hill (after the rough one mile climb) to a freshwater lake. I was determined to camp next to this lake. I tried a couple spots and couldn’t find anything. Then, I came around the corner and I spotted two cars parked on the side. I found a small path and followed it down to the lake, where two sisters, about my age, and one of their grandchild age 8 and another of their sons age 23 were having a dinner picnic and swimming. They invited me to join them. They insisted that I eat their dinner with them, delicious! And we all went swimming.
Now I am camped by the most gorgeous lake I’ve ever seen in my life.
