Adventure Bar/Bat Mitzvah Class Open House, Last Friday on Flagstaff

Adventure Rabbi - Synagogue w/o Walls
July 29, 2013

Our last Friday on Flagstaff of the summer is this Friday, August 2, 2013. (We will offer a service Aug 9, 2013 in Bear Creek Park) I hope you can join us for our joyous service and picnic.

At the August 2, 2103 service we will be bidding "Safe Journeys!" to Jennah and Scott Lagomarsino, long time AR members, who are moving to Eagle, Colorado. Jennah was on our board for many years. Scott used to cater our Passover and Rosh Hashana events and Jennah was the event coordinator. Please come wish them well.

Our July Hard Core Hike to Chasm lake was a treat. We have another high alpine hike coming up on August 11, 2013.

HIKE #3

Sunday, Aug 11, 2013
: Join Jeanette Domber and Rabbi Jamie for another fabulous wilderness adventure. Although we have not yet decided which trailhead, we promise fun and adventure somewhere up high. Where we go depends on the weather patterns we hit in August. But these hikes tend to be at altitude, 6-10 miles, at a relatively quick pace. Designing for experienced hikers, although you need not be a mountaineering super-pro, just someone who is in shape and enjoys long stretches outside and can move at a not super slow pace.

What: 6-10 miles at altitude. If you have a higher clearance vehicle and are willing to drive, please come to the meeting location with a full tank of gas.

When: August 11, 2013
We will meet in Boulder at 6 am at a location to be disclosed when you sign up. We should be back by 4 or 5 pm.

Suggested equipment: Plenty of water, lunch & snacks, sunscreen, rain gear, warm layers, waterproof boots, & poles (We might be crossing some snow fields here and there)

Fee: free for members, all others $18 per hike or (Late fee of + $5/hike, begins 7 days before before the hike)

Guides: Rabbi Jamie Korngold, and Jeanette Domber

Who Should Sign Up?
To come on this trip you must be in strong physical condition and able to hike at a sustained pace on an adventure which will last up to 8 hours. (If you are in "Boulder" shape, you'll be fine. This won't be as hard as a peak climb. But, for people that don't get out much, it would be hard. Call us if that doesn't make sense!)
You must be willing to work with a group. We are unable to accommodate dogs or children under 16.

To sign up, please let us know in the comments field

HIKE #2

Wednesday July 17, 2013: A high alpine adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park

For our second hard core hike this season, we will head to Chasm Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, with beautiful views of the Long’s Peak Diamond Face. This will be an 8.4 mile hike round trip with an elevation gain of 2,360 feet. A lot of this trail is above tree line, so we will get an early start to avoid the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. We will meet at 6:15 am sharp to carpool to the trailhead. You must be in Colorado shape to do this hike. Plan on being out all day and pack accordingly (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, rain gear, a warmer layer just in case it’s cool as we climb up to 11,760 ft, plenty of water, and food, etc.). We will return to the car pool location by 5 pm at the latest. Please RSVP for carpool location and just in case we make any last minute trail changes due to weather considerations.

Suggested equipment: Plenty of water, lunch & snacks, sunscreen, rain gear, warm layers (check the forecast), comfortable hiking boots.

Fee: free for members, all others $22 per hike or (Late fee of + $5/hike, begins 7 days before before the hike)
