HIKE #2

Wednesday July 17, 2013: A high alpine adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park

For our second hard core hike this season, we will head to Chasm Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, with beautiful views of the Long’s Peak Diamond Face. This will be an 8.4 mile hike round trip with an elevation gain of 2,360 feet. A lot of this trail is above tree line, so we will get an early start to avoid the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. We will meet at 6:15 am sharp to carpool to the trailhead. You must be in Colorado shape to do this hike. Plan on being out all day and pack accordingly (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, rain gear, a warmer layer just in case it’s cool as we climb up to 11,760 ft, plenty of water, and food, etc.). We will return to the car pool location by 5 pm at the latest. Please RSVP for carpool location and just in case we make any last minute trail changes due to weather considerations.

Suggested equipment: Plenty of water, lunch & snacks, sunscreen, rain gear, warm layers (check the forecast), comfortable hiking boots.

Fee: free for members, all others $22 per hike or (Late fee of + $5/hike, begins 7 days before before the hike)
