Day 1 of riding. Bergen to Major.

I biked to the train station at 5 AM this morning, with my bike fully loaded +3 Jarlsberg sandwiches on fresh, seedy bread and a huge container of watermelon pieces.
The train to Bergen was six hours and the scenery was breathtaking. Hikers got off all across the country to go explore these exquisite hills.
I got to Bergen at 1:30, packed my bags, did a few circles checking out the town. So delightfully quaint. Then did a few more circles getting lost trying to find the bike route. Ha ha. City riding.
I finally got going and it took about two hours just to get out of the city and then I hit some nice pastoral scenes with the sound of sheep bells. Lots of ups and downs, more than I actually thought there would be. Also an insane one lane road where cars jockey to pass each other going opposite directions .But very beautiful, delightful riding.
My plan was to ride till six, but it was so nice. I kept going and I also couldn’t find a place to camp. I finally took a page from Bobby stoll and our cross country bike trip when I was 16,
and asked the farmer if I could camp in his field. It’s absolutely stunning. I can see the water and there are baby goats playing King of the Mountain on a rock pile.
My bike and gear are all in good condition. I can’t quite figure out the Garmin computer so I have no clue how much I’m riding but I will try to let that go because it really doesn’t matter. Every day I will go as far as I want to go . On days that it’s raining to hard to ride, I will jump on the boat and go up the coast, and eventually the month will go by.
