I have a friend who is mysteriously single

I have a friend who is mysteriously single. She is beautiful, smart, well employed, and adventurous. Actually, I have several friends and congregants who are mysteriously single.

Our Passover retreat to Moab seems to attract mysteriously single men and women who are good looking, smart, well employed, and adventurous. One year I threatened the group of them that if they didn’t all fall in love with someone on the retreat that I would simply line them all up and pair them off right there and then.

But this weekend the mystery was cleared up by Amy Klein in her article, “What the Rabbi Said,” Modern Love, New York Times Style section http://nyti.ms/ht2Usg

Amy is eager to be married so she visits a rabbi who through a process involving a book and a swinging bag of money figures out that the she has actually been cursed! The wise rabbi counters the curse with a blessing and wha-la, she meets the man of her dreams.

So.... I am now prepared to help all my single friends find partners. Simply follow these instructions:
1. Go to your book shelf and with your eyes closed, select the book that “pulls” you.
2. Open the book and once again with your eyes close, point to a word.
3. If you do not get an actual word you need to try again.
4. Email me that word and I, your wise rabbi, will figure out why you are single and tell you what you need to do.

And please remember, my wedding calendar books up quickly!
